Fort Lauderdale fitness studios unite for Rise, Ride & Roar

Three of Fort Lauderdale’s hottest fitness studios are teaming up for a special event in the spirit of giving back to the community during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

During Rise, Ride & Roar, locals get their hearts pumping with classes from CycleBar Fort Lauderdale, SOL Yoga and ROAR Station in benefit of Holy Cross Hospital.

The cause is a personal one for CycleBar owner Barbara Fleming, who says that “community is the root of our business.”

“Hosting a charity event for breast cancer was an easy decision,” Fleming says. “It was only two months after opening [CycleBar in February 2017] that I was diagnosed with Stage 3 aggressive breast cancer and began a year and half-long fight for my life. It was the support of my staff, our riders and the community that enabled me to overcome this challenge. How could we not give back?”

The event features three rotational fitness stations: 30 minute-SOL Flow from SOL Yoga, 30 minute-Xpress Ride from CycleBar and 30 minute-MAX OUT from ROAR. The latter studio is new to the event, which SOL Yoga and CycleBar held for the first time last year.

“SOL Yoga is very excited to be a co-partner again this year, as we believe so strongly in the power of community, supporting each other, and using fitness and yoga to raise awareness and funds for a very deserving organization,” says Aurea Dempsey, SOL Yoga’s marketing and communications director. “This event was a ton of fun last year, and know it’s going to be even better this year!”

Rise, Ride & Roar also features light bites and refreshments from local vendors. Tickets are a $30 donation, which will go toward Holy Cross’ Michael and Dianne Bienes Comprehensive Cancer Center, where Fleming received treatment. Participants are also free to make an additional donation.

“There are many people who face this horrible disease and are in need of support to get that same treatment [she received], supplies to make it easier or even just transportation to treatment,” she says. “We wanted to be a part of that assistance.”

Rise, Ride & Roar takes place Oct. 3, 8-11 a.m. at CycleBar (525 N. Federal Highway, Suite 100, Fort Lauderdale). Click here to register.
