Palm Beach Tech is harnessing the power of technology for good—and asking South Florida creatives and coders to join them.
The Palm Beach County-based Palm Beach Tech hosts its fifth annual Hackathon Oct. 23-25. Themed “Coding for Good,” the event benefits Feeding South Florida and Gift of Life Marrow Registry.
“This year, we wanted to kick our Hackathon up a major notch and offer real technology solutions to two local charities who could truly benefit from these incredibly talented teams,” said Nikki Cabus, Vice President of Development at Palm Beach Tech. “Feeding South Florida and Gift of Life are two vitally important organizations that need a little extra help serving their constituents during the pandemic, and we’re incredibly proud to facilitate this opportunity to help them.”
Developers, designers, project managers and entrepreneurs will form teams of two to six people to find a solution to a challenge presented by the not-for-profit organizations. Palm Beach Tech encourages creative entrepreneurs and those with project management skills to join as well. Teams will have 24 hours to vet ideas and create their project, then present it to a panel of industry experts the following day. The top three winning teams will receive cash prizes of $2,500, $1,500, and $1,000, respectively.
This year, the event will take place virtually with the support of presenting sponsors such as Office Depot, MediaOps, VentureCafe/Miami, and FPL. The Hackathon starts Oct. 23 with a virtual kickoff. The 24 hours of hacking starts at 8 a.m. Oct. 24 and judging and presentation takes place Oct. 25 at 8 a.m.
