Miami law firm AXS LAW Group supports local arts

Given its location in the Wynwood arts district, AXS LAW Group has witnessed firsthand how artists have been hit hard by the pandemic. Now it’s here to help through an initiative under its AXS ART branch.

Miami-based AXS LAW Group recently created the  AXS to ART Pro Bono Initiative to provide free legal services and counseling for South Florida artists affected, unemployed or displaced by the coronavirus pandemic. AXS LAW Group, founded by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs, will begin accepting applications from interested clients starting on Dec. 1. A committee will review applications based on a case to case basis. Once selected, clients will be placed with experienced attorneys who will assist them with their needs.

“Over 95% of art events have been postponed or cancelled until further notice due to the COVID-19 crisis, creating a devastating impact on creative industries and our economy,” said Jeff Gutchess, founder partner at AXS Law Group. “On a local level, the cancellation of Art Basel in Miami brought upon the loss of significant local revenue affecting a variety of economic sectors, as well as a disheartening full-stop to a long-standing cultural tradition in our city. That’s why we are launching the AXS to ART initiative to help local artists and creatives during this difficult time.”

For those clients selected, AXS LAW will offer pro bono legal services such as contract review, business law, lease negotiation, intellectual property structuring and trademark filing, and other services as needed on a case by case basis. They will also provide quarterly follow-ups where they’ll meet with their clients to review and assess their evolving legal needs.
