Ring Them Bells

A Christmas season tradition since 1895 will continue its benevolent mission starting in mid-November—and that means part-time employment opportunities for those interested.

The Salvation Army of Broward County is filling 125 paid bell ringer positions for its Red Kettle outposts during a job fair set for Wednesday, Nov. 4. The two-hour event, from 10 a.m. to noon, will be held at the Salvation Army Community Center (100 SW Ninth Ave.) in Fort Lauderdale. The job fair will comply with COVID-19 social distancing guidelines, and applicants will be required to wear a mask.

The Red Kettle program, which runs this year from Nov. 13 through Dec. 24, benefits the Salvation Army’s numerous feeding, shelter and social service programs—efforts, including a food pantry and meals-to-go services for the homeless and impoverished, that have taken on greater importance amid the pandemic. Last year, the organization and its bell ringers helped to raise more than $213,000 for the Greater Fort Lauderdale community.
