Farmstead to Offer Fresh Online Groceries in South Florida Area

A new online delivery service for groceries will provide more options for residents in the tri-county area looking for fresh, quality ingredients at their convenience. Farmstead is an online-based grocer offering free delivery and competitive prices, which was recently launched in the South Florida area.

“We are thrilled to be delivering to the thousands of South Florida shoppers who value fresh produce, sourced locally when possible, as well as national grocery brands, delivered to their doorsteps for the same or better prices than their local grocer, and with no delivery fees,” says Pradeep Elankumaran, co-founder and CEO of Farmstead. “We are particularly thrilled to tap into South Florida’s vibrant agricultural community in order to offer their produce to shoppers in the region. The Miami-Dade Beacon Council has been instrumental in connecting us with agricultural partners in the area, and we are grateful for their help.”

Along with national brands such as Kraft and Nabisco, customers using Farmstead can purchase high-quality local produce and dairy, as well as fresh meats and imported fish. Customers can create an account online with no subscription or other fees.

Once the order is placed, Farmstead employees hand-select and inspect each product at its warehouses to ensure customers receive quality products that match what they chose. Farmstead groups order together according to neighborhoods before sending out any delivery to cut down on deliveries and carbon emissions. The company also provides a Refill & Save program with options to refill various kitchen staples at a reduced price.

“We’re excited to have Farmstead launch delivery in Miami,” says James Kohnstamm, Executive Vice President of Economic Development for the Miami-Dade Beacon Council. “Their work in reducing food waste is critical, especially in a growing community like ours. Helping them build fruitful connections with our agricultural partners in South Dade not only gets the freshest seasonal produce to our residents, it expands Farmstead’s positive impact on our local economy.”

Farmstead uses its proprietary AI-based software connected to its distribution centers to determine optimal inventory levels and ensure efficient order packing and delivery to reduce food waste. The delivery-centric warehouses generally serve a 50-mile radius and the efficiency enables the grocer to reduce costs and provide lower prices to its customers than traditional supermarkets.

Farmstead’s customer base has grown by double-digits, month over month, throughout 2020 and so far in 2021, according to the company, with plans to expand nationwide to a primarily mid-market audience.
