Annual Turkey Trot Event Returns to Fort Lauderdale Beach

Before the overeating on Thanksgiving begins, the 10th Annual Fort Lauderdale Turkey Trot along Fort Lauderdale Beach provides participants the opportunity to enjoy a healthy activity and a scenic beach route. The race begins at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 25, at Las Olas Oceanside Park, 300 E Las Olas Blvd.

“We are thrilled to kick off the holiday season with Leadership Broward and this fantastic Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot that promotes a healthy lifestyle,” says Milin Espino of Memorial Healthcare.

Funds raised from the 5K Memorial Cardiac & Vascular Institute Turkey Trot will benefit the Leadership Broward Foundation and the MedPro Future Nurse Scholarship for Broward College students pursuing a career in nursing. Over 3,000 runners and walkers are expected to participate. Participants will receive a 10-Year Commemorative Finisher Medal. Awards will be presented to the top three overall male and female runners and the first, second and third place winners by age group.

The event’s sponsors are Memorial Cardiac & Vascular Institute, Leadership Broward Foundation, MedPro Healthcare Staffing, and Galleria Fort Lauderdale. Online race registration is now open at $40 per person with discounted rates for children under 12. Packet pick-up will be at Galleria Fort Lauderdale.

“Our annual Turkey Trot is one of the best events of the year, so we encourage everyone who wants to kick start their Thanksgiving Day to join us,” says Andrew Zullo, executive director of Leadership Broward, a nonprofit organization providing networking opportunities for youth, local business and community leaders.
