Three Breakthrough Artists to Be Featured at the Boca Raton Museum of Art

Matthew Schreiber, Sari Dienes and Sri Prabha are spotlighted in a new exhibition.

The Boca Raton Museum of Art has launched a remarkable new exhibition featuring the works of three revolutionary artists; Sari Dienes (1898-1992), Matthew Schreiber (b. 1967), and Sri Prabha (b. 1969). Each artist’s unique creations are showcased in separate galleries, forming an impressive art trio spanning the museum’s first floor. Kelli Bodle, the Associate Curator of the Museum, curated all three spaces, which will be on display through October 22.

“Spirit lives in everything” ? this iconic quote by the late artist Sari Dienes serves as the entryway to the exhibition.

An important figure during the seminal decades of the Mid-Century art world in New York, Dienes served as an inspiration to Jasper Johns and Robert Rauschenberg. Her “Incidental Nature” exhibition showcases three core elements of her six decades of artmaking, including her 1950s street rubbings, works inspired by her time in Japan, and portraits of her famous circle of artists.

Matthew Schreiber is widely recognized as an exceptional laser and hologram artist. In Orders of Light, Schreiber’s artistry is presented in a way that delves deeper into his creative process than ever before. The exhibition features a series of his drawings and holograms, which showcase fleeting images of spiritualist medium communities in Lily Dale, New York, and Cassadaga, Florida. Schreiber’s works on paper are particularly noteworthy, as they showcase a range of techniques, including blind contour studies, peripheral view drawing, and lens-less photography.

Sri Prabha has masterminded a site-specific installation called Resonator-Reanimator. This installation combines Vedic Eastern philosophy and Western science concepts to investigate our relationship with the natural world. Combined, these ideas transport the viewer into a psychedelic multiverse of vivid colors.

“These three artists – Sari Dienes, Matthew Schreiber, and Sri Prabha – all bring to light the tools of perception, and visitors who experience this tour de force at the Boca Raton Museum of Art will find an imaginative, multi-sensory panorama of art,” Irvin Lippman says, the Executive Director of the Museum. “It is Sari Dienes’ now famous quote ‘Spirit lives in everything’ that provides a unifying arch into the creative worlds of Dienes, Schreiber and Prabha.”

Boca Raton Museum of Art was established in 1950 as the Art Guild of Boca Raton and provides educational programs and a robust exhibition schedule.
