The Junior League of Boca Raton (JLBR) has initiated a new program called “The Essentials Closet” to address an urgent need in the community. The program aims to collect over 1,000 essential items to provide a distinct experience for families in need. The innovative pop-up shop recently debuted at Place of Hope in Boca Raton.
At the Leighan and David Rinker Campus in Boca Raton, 45 families had the opportunity to choose essential items from the Essentials Closet tailored to their individual needs. Additionally, Place of Hope arranged transportation for several families from their Palm Beach Gardens campus, Joann’s Cottage, a family-style maternity home for at-risk women.
Over the coming year, the Essentials Closet will be expanding to offer more shopping opportunities. The Junior League of Boca Raton intends to partner with other nonprofit organizations to provide the same unique shopping experience to at-risk youth.
Members of JLBR will contribute over 35,000 volunteer hours and donate more than $250,000 throughout the year to support their mission of training volunteers, developing women’s potential, and enhancing the South Florida community through impact areas such as child welfare and nonprofit support.
