American Lung Association Hosts Annual Lung Force Soirée

The fundraising event in Boca Raton supports lung cancer research.

The American Lung Association in South Florida will hold a fundraising event on Friday, June 7 featuring custom activations and interactive entertainment aligned with this year’s theme: “Glamour in the Gilded Age.” This year’s Memorial Cancer Institute LUNG FORCE Sunset Soirée at the historic Addison of Boca Raton is presented by the Erwin and Barbara Mautner Charitable Foundation. It raises funds for lifesaving lung cancer research, early detection initiatives, and awareness outreach in vulnerable communities.

“The LUNG FORCE Sunset Soirée has evolved from an intimate luncheon that began nearly twenty years ago into one of the luxury lifestyle celebrations of the season, raising critical funds and much-needed awareness to defeat lung cancer and, ultimately, find a cure,” Michael Fischer says, Event Chair of the Laszlo Fischer Foundation. “We are excited to bring new custom elements to this year’s Sunset Soirée and transport our guests to the Gilded Age for an unforgettable evening that blends the past with a bright future free of lung cancer and lung disease.”

This year, four community leaders are set to participate in the LUNG FORCE Leaders competition. Each has had a positive influence on the community and is motivated by the Lung Association’s mission to combat lung disease and save lives.

Additional event details include:

  • Cocktail Reception in the “Posh Parlor,” with themed cocktails by Tito’s Handmade Vodka
  • “Wine Wall” wine grab featuring high-end bottles from Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits
  • Live and Silent Auctions featuring custom trips to international destinations
  • Interactive photo experiences by UKG
  • “Get Your Gild On” beauty bar, designed to enhance your gilded ensemble
  • After Party in the majestic courtyard surrounded by 100-year-old banyan trees

In the U.S., lung cancer is responsible for the highest number of cancer-related deaths. The mortality rate for lung cancer surpasses the combined deaths caused by colon, breast, and prostate cancers. In Florida, it is estimated that over 18,600 individuals will be diagnosed with lung cancer this year, and the projected number of deaths from lung cancer is over 10,200. There is reason for optimism, as more Americans are now surviving lung cancer than ever before. Over the last decade, the survival rate has risen by almost 40 percent. Investing in research, promoting lung cancer screening, and combatting the stigma associated with the disease all contribute to saving lives.
