Feeding the Front Line

The Family Foundation named after Chicago Cubs star (and Parkland native) Anthony Rizzo is doing its part to support health-care professionals on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. Rizzo’s namesake foundation delivered more than 800 meals last week to workers at medical centers here in South Florida and in Chicago.

Locally, the Anthony Rizzo Family Foundation’s efforts fed health-care workers at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital in Hollywood. Some food was donated, but much of it was purchased in an effort to support restaurants in and around the all-star first baseman’s hometown. Participating restaurants included: Myapapaya Juicery + Kitchen, All-Star Pizza, Dyan’s Country Kitchen, and Pasquale’s Pizza Company.

“We have now served over 800 meals to Chicago and Florida hospitals, the front-line workers and the staff that have really taken on this virus,” Rizzo said. “We really appreciate all the donations everyone has given us, and I know everyone at the hospitals and the front-line workers have been appreciative.”
