The BBX Capital Foundation has announced the $200,000 2024 Art and Culture Grant Initiative for South Florida nonprofit organizations in Broward County. The initiative aims to support arts and cultural programs by providing contributions of up to $20,000 to selected organizations. Only Broward County art and cultural organizations without state funds can apply for the grant.
“The BBX Capital Foundation recognizes the needs of our arts and cultural organizations and is happy to provide this $200,000 grant opportunity during these challenging times,” says Jarett Levan (pictured), president and CEO of BBX Capital and Trustee of the BBX Capital Foundation. “Funding for our local arts community has remained scarce since the pandemic. The BBX Capital Foundation is supporting these organizations and initiatives because they align with the foundation’s commitment to promoting arts, education, and cultural experiences. We believe they are essential to the growth, economic vitality, and development of our Broward County community.”
Since the foundation’s establishment, the support of arts and cultural programs has remained a fundamental focus for the BBX Capital Foundation (previously known as BankAtlantic Foundation). Broward County nonprofit arts and cultural organizations seeking consideration for this grant are advised to prepare a letter of intent not exceeding three pages, incorporating a proposed budget. The letter should delineate the services and programs bolstered by the funding and the expected outcomes. Applicants should provide specifics about the target population, the specific geographic area within Broward County to be served and any potential partnerships or collaborations.
Grant applications must be sent via email to Lois Marino, the Executive Director of the BBX Capital Foundation, at [email protected] by 5 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 16. Upon receipt, a panel of experts will review all applications. Due to the high volume of incoming applications, the BBX Capital Foundation will not entertain any phone calls regarding the grant requests. Selected organizations will receive notification via email and a public announcement will be made at a reception in mid-October 2024.
“With this grant, we want to directly support as many wonderful organizations as possible that bring arts and cultural programs to Broward County,” says Marino. “This much-needed funding opportunity can provide a significant boost to organizations that work tirelessly to foster creativity and improve the overall well-being of community members.”
Over the last four years, the foundation has provided $475,000 in initiative-related and programmatic grants in addition to its annual funding. This includes $100,000 for social justice initiatives, $175,000 for mental health programs in 2023-2024 and $200,000 in support of arts and culture in 2024.
