Broward Health Hosts Breast Cancer Awareness Events in October

During Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, Broward Health will host various educational events and health screenings to increase awareness and educate the community about the importance of early detection for cancer.

The featured events include:

  • Oct. 7: Broward Health and Gilda’s Club hosts Prevención y Detección Temprana del Cáncer de Mama, in Spanish at 3 p.m. led by Alia Abdulla, D.O., FACS, breast surgical oncologist at Broward Health. The virtual lecture is free. Call 954-763-6776 for more information.
  • Oct. 9 and 23: Mammos and Mocktails will be provided from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 9 and Saturday, Oct. 23 at the Lillian S. Wells Women’s Health Center, 1600 S. Andrews Ave. in Fort Lauderdale. The event will provide free mammograms and pink lemonade mocktails. Women must be pre-qualified and registered in advance for the mammogram screening.   • Oct. 19: Alia Abdulla, D.O., FACS, breast surgical oncologist, Marshal E. Liberfarb, M.D., radiation oncologist, and Mehmet F. Hepgur, M.D., hematology-oncology for Broward Health, will lead a free virtual discussion on Preventing and Treating Breast Cancer at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 19.
