Drive-In Cinema

Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival is giving local residents a socially distanced entertainment option this month with the launch of its Drive-In Cinema for children and adults. The movies will be shown at Pier Sixty-Six Marina South (2150 SE 17th St., Fort Lauderdale) on the southeast corner of the 17th Street bridge; food trucks will be on site. Gates open at 7 p.m.; all cars must be parked by 8:15 p.m. The movies will start at 8:30.

Tickets must be purchased in advance online at fliff.com, or call 954.525.3456. Admission is $30 general admission (per carload); $20 for Pier Sixth-Six Hotel & Marina neighbors; and $15 for FLIFF members. Attendees will have the option of making a donation to the Humane Society of Broward County.

The roster of weekend films begins this Friday night (July 17) with X-Men Apocalypse, starring James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence. Children’s fare begins the following night (Saturday, July 18) with The Lego Movie.

Upcoming films include a Grease sing-along (July 24), Happy Feet (July 26) and a Hairspray sing-along (July 31).
