During its annual Week of Impact from March 11 to March 16, the Junior League of Boca Raton will significantly contribute to the local community. The League members will be involved in various projects, including reading to K-2 students at Plumosa School of the Arts, participating in food drives for the underserved at Boca Helping Hands, delivering feminine hygiene supplies, and gathering gowns and accessories for ‘Prom Beach: Making Prom Possible.’
“No person should be forced to choose between nourishing themselves and prioritizing their personal well-being,” says Meghan Shea, president of the Junior League of Boca Raton. “We are collecting necessary items that will benefit the individuals of our community that are in distress.”
The community members have been invited to participate in a hygiene items drive, dress donation, and food drive. The donations gathered during these drives will be given to local organizations, such as Boca Helping Hands, Cereal4All, and Prom Beach.
The collection efforts include:
- Hygiene Drive: Pads, tampons, menstrual cups and wipes are needed. The public can either shop locally or visit the nonprofit’s Amazon wishlist.
- Donation Dress Drive: Gowns, cocktail dresses, and accessories for prom are needed. Dresses need to be cleaned and on a hanger.
- Cereal4All Drive: Boxes of cereal for local food banks are needed. The public can help by shopping locally or visiting the Junior League’s Amazon wishlist.
Amazon packages should be mailed to Junior League of Boca Raton, 261 NW 13th St., Boca Raton, FL 33432. Individuals shopping locally or hosting their own drive are requested to place the donated items in plastic bags and drop them off at the Vegso Community Resource Center of the Junior League. The center’s address is mentioned above, and the donations can be made between March 11 and 16.
