NAMI Broward County Shines a Light on National Mental Health Awareness Month

The public is invited to an afternoon of inspiration, creativity, and advocacy at the 3rd annual "Artful Minds" event on Saturday, June 1.

May is National Mental Health Awareness Month, and it’s the perfect time to spotlight the invaluable work of NAMI Broward County. Dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals and families affected by a mental health diagnosis, NAMI Broward operates with a mission centered on education, support, and advocacy.

If you have a mental health condition, you’re not alone. One in 5 American adults experiences some form of mental health diagnosis in any given year. And across the population, 1 in every 20 adults is living with a serious mental health condition.

Through the dedication of trained volunteers, NAMI Broward brings peer-led programs to diverse community settings. These programs and support groups offer essential education, skills training, and unwavering support for individuals living with a mental diagnosis and their loved ones.

As we reflect on the importance of mental health awareness, NAMI Broward invites you to an afternoon of inspiration, creativity, and advocacy at the 3rd annual “Artful Minds” event on Saturday, June 1, from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at MAD Arts in Dania Beach.

“Artful Minds” transcends the boundaries of a conventional art exhibition; it’s a dedicated platform for sparking conversations about mental health and wellness while nurturing hope through the transformative power of art. Each piece on display is thoughtfully curated by artists living with mental health conditions or those whose work explores mental health themes. Attendees gain profound insight into the artists’ journeys toward mental health and recovery through their art. Plus, you will be treated to the sounds of Emmy-nominated Impact Artist Alexander Star.

Guests will explore a diverse array of artwork, with all pieces available for sale or bidding. Proceeds from the event directly support NAMI Broward County’s mission of providing essential support services to individuals and families affected by mental health conditions, ensuring accessibility to all.
