Old World Tradition for Foodies

The local foodie scene just got a dose of Old World charm in the form of Fornaro Restaurant & Gourmet Pizza in Coconut Grove. This intimate, casual restaurant serves all the classics, but its rendition of a tagliatelle osso buco and its incomparable cooked sea bass are sure to have you coming back for more. For dessert, try the Fig Truffle Flan, which is baked with fresh figs and served over vanilla bean ice cream with a decadent toffee sauce.

A must-try is the Gnocchi Della Fortuna, a dish served only on the 29th of each month. This tradition stems from a legend dating back to the eighth century, when the placing of money under a plate symbolized wishes of prosperity. Accordingly, on the 29th of each month, guests at Fornaro are invited to honor this tradition with the symbolic gnocchi entree.
