Event: YMCA of South Florida’s Veterans Day Breakfast
Where: Bonaventure Town Center Ballroom (16690 Saddle Club Road, Weston)
What: The annual breakfast, in partnership with the city of Weston, honors local veterans. This year’s keynote speaker is U.S. Navy SEAL Lt. Cmdr. Dan Cnossen. The former platoon commander for SEAL Team One in Afghanistan stepped on an improvised explosive device in September 2009, losing both his legs above the knee. Cnossen went on to become seven-time Paralympic Winter Games medalist in the biathlon and cross-country skiing.

Event: Lighthouse of Broward’s Dining in the Dark
Where: The Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach (321 N. Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd.)
What: The eighth-annual gala for the nonprofit organization that provides services and resources for the blind and visually impaired in Broward County returns after a two-year hiatus. The event, presented by the Josephine S. Leiser Foundation and themed “Fire & Ice,” features a dark dining experience during the meal, along with a cocktail reception, live entertainment and dancing. Kenny Walker from 102.7 FM, and Julie Guy and Tamara G. from 101.5 FM, are the emcees.

Event: Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade’s “Wild About Kids” gala
Where: Biltmore Miami (1200 Anastasia Ave., Coral Gables)
What: The black-tie affair, co-chaired by former Norwegian Cruise Line CEO Andy Stuart and wife Allison, raises funds for Boys & Girls Clubs initiatives including after-school programs, tutoring and homework assistance, and summer and athletic programs. The return to an in-person event promises a three-course dinner, a musical showcase by the organization’s youth members, live music, a DJ set, dancing and a silent auction.
