National Peking Duck Day: Thursday, Jan. 18

  • Pay homage to the classic Asian dish at David Grutman’s Komodo, a hotspot for Southeast Asian cuisine and celebrity sightings in Miami’s Brickell neighborhood, where it has gained an Instagrammable reputation. Another Miami hotpot, Jaya at the Setai, serves its Peking Duck with steamed pancakes, scallions, cucumber and bean sauce. The best part of the dish: rolling the succulent duck into a wrap.

Snout to Tail

  • TRP Taste—an intimate 24-seat venue built around a rotating, ever-evolving schedule of unique culinary experiences from The Restaurant People (TRP, pictured)—is kicking off 2018 with an lineup of fresh, unique culinary experiences sure to satiate the senses and satisfy all tastes.
  • The first, Snout to Tail, is an eight-course event featuring TRP Taste Executive Chef Chris Miracolo’s favorite pork creations. It will embrace the no-nonsense, no-waste, new-cuts-of-meat food trends for 2018.
  • Seating is limited, and reservations for all TRP Taste experiences are required.
  • When: 6:30 p.m.
  • Price: $125 per person, with cocktails and beverages for purchase

FLIPANY Fun Run

  • An effort to advocate for healthier communities, this event includes a 5K and 10K run, paddle boarding, natural juice bar, kids activities, health fair and more. Hosts of the LITE 101.5 FM morning show will co-host, and the Miami Heat dancers will kick off a flash mob.

Family Fun Day at Orchard Supply Hardware

  • The home improvement store will host a “Family Fun Day” in support of the Fort Lauderdale Historical Society. It will feature a kids archaeological dig, plus live pottery and Seminole artist demonstrations.

  • Where: Fort Lauderdale Historical Society (219 SW Second Ave.)
