KISS Country Chili CookOff

  • When: Jan. 26
  • Where: C.B. Smith Park, 900 N. Flamingo Road, Pembroke Pines
  • What: For more than 30 years, the event has brought some of country music’s biggest stars to South Florida. This year, include Brooks & Dunn headline performances by Tyler Rich, Runaway June and Rodney Atkins.

Mardi Gras Ball

“Magico”

Miami City Ballet: “Dances at the Gathering” (pictured on main page)

  • When: Jan. 26-27
  • Where: Broward Center
  • What: Celebrating the simplicity and athleticism of dance and dancers, the company performs choreographer Jerome Robbins’ work, set to piano music by Chopin. The second half of the program sees Robbins and Twyla Tharp collaborate on high-energy choreography set to the music of Brahms and Handel.

Fine Arts Festival (pictured)

  • What: The 16th annual event invites attendees to take in a juried art show surrounded by lush foliage, featuring the work of international and local artists, including photography, sculpture, painting, etc. The event also features food, live music and activities.

Saturday Brunch at Beach House Pompano (pictured)

  • Where: 270 North Pompano Beach Blvd., Pompano Beach
  • When: Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • What: Beach House Pompano recently expanded Sunday brunch to Saturday. Plus, the restaurant introduced new “beach bites,” including Short Rib Roll, Smoked Trout Dip, Tuna Burger and Jumbo Lump Crab Cake (pictured).

Deerfield Beach Festival of the Arts

  • What: Shakespeare Miami performs for the third time at the venue, bringing the tragic love story to life with costumes and stage combat.

Celebrate the Arts Day

  • When: 1-5 p.m.
  • Where: Weston Town Center, 1675 Market Street
  • What: The sixth annual event celebrates the arts with hands-on participation through a graffiti wall and open-air art studio. Local schools perform while guests of all ages explore musical instruments and booths on art, children’s book authors and more. Children enjoy caricature artists and face painting.
