There Is No Place Like Home: 10th Annual Fairy Tale Ball: “The Wizard of Oz”

THE EVENT  The Diamond Angels of Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Foundation will host the 10th Annual Fairy Tale Ball to raise funds to support pediatric programs at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. Guests will follow the yellow brick road and mingle with Dorothy, Tin Man, Scarecrow and the Cowardly Lion, along with other fantastically memorable characters in the enchanted ballroom, which will be transformed into scenes from “The Wizard of Oz.”

The fantasy-themed evening will feature a cocktail reception, dinner, dancing and an auction. The highlight will be an intimate rock concert headlined by Joan Jett & the Blackhearts. The band will perform chart-topping hits including “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll,” “Crimson and Clover,” and “I Hate Myself for Loving You.” Attendees will also enjoy a smashing performance by Night Ranger, known for their power ballad “Sister Christian.”

Throughout the night, Mike Marino, aka DJ 1Tre, will keep the beat pumping while comedian George Gray, announcer for “The Price is Right” and host of “The Weakest Link,” returns with his signature humor to emcee the festivities. Auction prizes include designer accessories, sports and entertainment packages, five-star vacations, cruises and staycations. The 2013 Diamond Angels Fairy Tale Ball co-chairs are Allison Antevy, Elizabeth Jacobs and Robin Steinman.

THE CAUSE  “There is no place like home.” Just as Dorothy wished to go home, every parent who has a child hospitalized wants his or her child to return home. Physicians and hospital staff at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital provide world-class care 24/7 so pediatric patients can get well as quickly as possible.

The Diamond Angels of Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Foundation is a volunteer organization made up of an extraordinary group of women who work hard to advocate and raise funds for Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. The group also supports the hospital’s mission to provide safe, quality, cost-effective, patient- and family-centered care, regardless of one’s ability to pay, with the goal of improving the health of the community it serves. Since 2004, they have raised more than $2.8 million. Learn more at www.diamondangels.org and https://www.jdch.com. ?
