Ways to give back this Thanksgiving

Now through Nov. 23, Feeding South Florida invites the community to participate in Adopt-A-Family. For $25, the domestic hunger-relief organization provides a Thanksgiving meal box to a family of four with one turkey, fresh produce, traditional sides, gravy mix, and dessert mix. With the pandemic still disrupting lives, Boca Helping Hands is calling for volunteers for its 2020 Thanksgiving Box Brigade program (featured image). This year, 2,766 families in need have registered for a box (which provides turkeys and a box filled with everything a family needs to prepare a holiday meal). That’s up from 2,000 last year. For $27.20, anyone can donate the cost of a box. The boxes will be distributed at four distribution locations the weekend before Thanksgiving. Learn more by clicking here. Or contact Karen Swedenborg at Karen@BocaHelpingHands.org or 561.417.0913, ext. 202.

Arts Garage in Delray Beach has continued to provide South Florida with virtual arts events such as the Music At Home: Live From Arts Garage series and recent in-person and livestreamed events with Theatre Live From Arts Garage. To continue these programs, the organization has launched Give Your HeART to Save the ARTs’ Campaign on GoFundMe. Seeking to raise $25,000, the campaign seeks to support the Grassroots GAllery, the Emerging Artists programs with jam sessions and open mic nights, volunteer and internship programs and a wide variety of community programming. Donate here or on the Arts Garage website.

The Food Network & Cooking Channel South Beach Wine & Food Festival is joining forces with Constellation Culinary Group for South Floridians to make their Thanksgiving dinner an act of giving itself. Their Thanksgiving Table To-Go comes with entrée(s), two salads, a choice of three side dishes, bread, accompaniments, two dessert(s), wine from La Crema, Aqua Panna Natural Spring Water, S.Pellegrino Sparkling Natural Mineral Water, and a canister of illy Classico Ground Drip Coffee. All the net proceeds will go toward efforts to aid the local hospitality industry during the continued regrowth and recovery phase. Plus, for each 25 packages sold, SOBEWFF will donate a holiday family meal to a local member of the United States Bartenders’ Guild impacted by the pandemic. Orders can be purchased through Nov. 20 and can be picked up at SGWS Wynwood (2105 N. Miami Avenue) Nov. 25 and Nov. 26. For information on packages and more, click here.
