LMG Pick of the Day

In an effort to offset the food insecurity produced by closed schools, a vulnerable elderly population and record unemployment, Feeding South Florida is setting up drive-thru distribution sites throughout the region.

Among the sites scheduled for distribution services this week:

 

Broward

April 1: City of Sunrise (9605 W. Oakland Park Blvd.); 10 a.m. to noon

April 2: The Vine (5000 Coconut Creek Parkway, Margate); 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

April 2: Trinity Lutheran Church (7150 Pines Blvd., Pembroke Pines); 10 a.m. to noon

April 3: Radiant Living (445 SW 2nd St., Deerfield Beach); 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

April 3: United Church of God (4321 NE 1st Terrace, Pompano Beach); noon to 2 p.m.

April 4: Victory of Grace Church (2821 NW 15th St., Fort Lauderdale); 10 a.m. to noon

April 4: City of Miramar (6700 Miramar Parkway); 9 to 11 a.m.

April 4: City of Pembroke Park (3115 SW 52nd Ave.); 9 to 11 a.m.

 

Miami-Dade

April 2: Centro AFE (868 SE 12th St., Hialeah); 10 a.m. to noon

April 3: Fountain of Life (3505 NW 79th St., Miami); 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

April 3: SVDP (14205 SW 142nd Ave., Miami); 10 a.m. to noon

 

Check Feeding South Florida’s COVID-19 site (feedingsouthflorida.org/covid19) for daily updates on food distribution throughout the tri-county area.

 

Several other organizations in Broward County are stepping up to help with emergency food assistance. Among them:

 

  • Davie Community Worship Center (4140 SW 54th Ave., Davie): Offering drive-thru service on Fridays from 4 to 6:30 p.m.
  • Aging & Disability Resource Center: Seniors over 60 in need of food resources can call 954.745.9779 and apply for home-delivered meals (through Meals on Wheels South Florida). Those under 60 can call Meals on Wheels directly at 954.731.8770.
