Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens to Host Summer Workshops

Hoping to further expand the connection between South Florida and Japan, youth and cultural summer camps will be offered throughout the month of June at the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens in Delray Beach.

The events include:

Sumi-e Ink Painting (Floral, Beginner) on June 3, 10 and 17

This class will delve into Sumi-e, a type of Japanese ink painting used in China in the 12th century.

Tea Ceremony (Beginner) on June 3, 6, 13 or 17

This hands-on class will allow participants to learn about how Japanese tea ceremonies are performed.

Family Fun: Koma on June 20

This family-oriented class will explore the Japanese game of koma and allow participants to customize their own koma.

Youth Music and Culture Summer Camp from June 21 to June 25

Students at this summer camp workshop will learn about Japanese culture by participating in interactive classes includes craft activities and cultural arts and music lessons.

Since opening in 1977, the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens has helped immerse South Florida residents in Japanese art and culture. For more information, visit morikami.org.
