Ready to Exhale

Everyone has a breaking point. As resilient as we’ve been over the past year-plus, it’s inevitable that something will pop your COVID bubble, if it hasn’t already. We’ve all had a moment or two where something random, in the big picture, was the straw that day that sapped our spirit.

For some, it happened early, during that crazy run on toilet paper. For others, it was having the joy of redecorating for the first time in five years diminished by the five-month delivery delay for new furniture. Or maybe it was that day on Zoom where, once again, you spoke for 30 seconds while on mute—and then unmuted just as you were dropping a four-letter bomb.

Perhaps, pop culture pushed you to the brink. Maybe, it was watching your significant other weep uncontrollably because Regé-Jean Page isn’t reprising his role as Simon Basset on the second season of Bridgerton.

Or, perhaps, it was reading that JLo reunited with Ben Affleck after two decades. OK, so that made you a little melancholy after spending 15 months in too-close quarters with your husband, who’s working remotely from a makeshift office in the dining room. And sure, you spent a few evenings Facebook-stalking that high school boyfriend you dumped—because maybe he wasn’t so bad after all, even though he was cheating on you with the student council treasurer.

Whatever. We’re only human. We all deserve a mini meltdown in the face of a global pandemic.

We also deserve to exhale after a last 15 months unlike any in recent history. With that in mind, Lifestyle hopes to brighten up your summer; it begins this month with 40 ways to enjoy what South Florida has to offer. Even though we ventured outside last year, it was anything but a typical summer. This year promises to be different. Let our June cover story serve as a reminder of all the attractions, aquatic adventures, fitness fun, and music/entertainment that awaits.

Speaking of which, Lifestyle is expanding its media footprint starting this summer. Already the title with the largest combined readership in South Florida—the eight magazines under our flag reach some 560,000 people in the tri-county region—Lifestyle plans to connect with even more local leaders, business executives, and key influencers through a series of upcoming awards ceremonies and special events. The first, slated for July 14, is our inaugural Real Estate Awards, an online celebration of top-selling real estate professionals with our sister publication, South Florida Business & Wealth. Sign up for our newsletter at lmgfl.com to learn all about the events and live networking opportunities (starting this fall) on the Lifestyle calendar.

In the meantime, get ready for a much-needed summer of fun.
