Love Boat Event Will Benefit Delray’s Achievement Centers for Children & Families & Living Hungry

The Delray Beach Initiative (DBI) will host “An Evening on the Love Boat” at the Delray Beach Elks Lodge to raise funds for Achievement Centers for Children & Families (ACCF) and Living Hungry. The Love Boat event will “set sail” on Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. for a fun evening cruise, stopping in the ports of Cancun, Ocho Rios and Old San Juan before docking back in Delray Beach at 10 p.m. Tickets are $30 and include food from local restaurants, inspired by the Love Boat, the iconic television show the 1970s. A cash bar will be open to all passengers during the cruise.

Guests will be welcomed by the captain and crew of the Delray Beach Initiative (DBI), a volunteer-based community organization geared to enhancing the lives of local children. The organization creates two events each year that encourage community engagement and raise awareness about the needs of local youth.

“This is sure to be a great event, benefiting homeless teenagers in our schools and the at-risk youth and their families at the Achievement Center right here in Delray Beach,” says Love Boat Captain and DBI Chair Mitch Katz. “Our crew is going all out with the Love Boat! Every passenger on board my ship will enjoy the wild fun planned for each port of call. All Aboard the Love Boat! Our passengers will be raving about the great time they had on board together. We are so pleased to collaborate with ACCF and Living Hungry and give back in this way.”

Once aboard the Love Boat, guests will be welcomed with flower leis and enjoy themed food, drinks and desserts, inspired by food from each port of call during the cruise. Each port will have entertainment and fun on deck, from Hula Hoopers to interactive activities with audience participation. There will also be raffles and silent auction items. Local restaurants providing food include Dada, Fly Bird, PUR Life, Deck 84, Duffy’s, Ziree, Sandwich Man, Johnnie Browns, 3rd & 3rd, Death or Glory and Subculture.

Proceeds from the Love Boat benefit the hungry, homeless and at-risk teenagers of Delray Beach. Living Hungry feeds and provides resources to homeless teens and families. Achievement Centers for Children & Families (ACCF) gives scholastic aftercare to at-risk teens.

“Together we can love and support all the Delray Beach teens to help them realize their full potential in school and in life,” says Living Hungry founder Maura Plante.

Additional sponsors are still needed, including restaurant sponsors for meal contributions, cruise-themed baskets and sponsors to underwrite the Love Boat Event and ports of call.
