New York City’s Blue Dog Cookhouse & Bar Opens in Boca Raton

The Blue Dog Cookhouse & Bar (Blue Dog), known for its elevated comfort-driven fare, sophisticated cocktail program and chic bustling vibe, is now offering its crafted cuisine in Boca Raton. The New York City-based restaurant and bar opened its doors earlier this month at 6000 Glades Rd., Suite 1008C.

“Much has happened since the original Blue Dog Café opened in 2006, and even more so in the past two years since we became a full-service high-end restaurant beyond the seven-day brunch we were historically known for,” Elizabeth Slavutsky says, operator of Blue Dog Café. “We had our eye on South Florida as the home for our first restaurant outside New York for some time and Boca Raton just made sense. Blue Dog was designed to be the type of place where guests can enjoy an elevated yet approachable dining experience that is as ideal for date night dinners, or cocktails with friends, just as it is for a family birthday party. Boca Raton is an amazing city with a population that appreciates fine fare and hospitality. I believe we will take the dining experience to a whole new level and we’re excited to welcome our first guests.”

The menu is crafted by Corporate Chef Yanna Slavutsky and Executive Chef Chris Barre. The dinner menu features a selection of East and West Coast Oysters served with peach mignonette and cocktail sauce and Oyster Shooters. The restaurant’s Start & Share menu offers an eclectic array of temptations, including Grilled Octopus with farm potato, yuzu chimichurri and blistered cherry tomato. Large plates include Braised Short Ribs with horseradish mashed potato and crispy brussels sprouts; the Filet Trio with crab Oscar, bearnaise and truffle butter. Seafood offerings include Lobster Mac and Cheese with Maine lobster, tomato blush and toasted panko; Crusted Ahi Tuna with forbidden rice, baby bok choy, tamarind teriyaki wasabi and micro shiso. Guests can also enjoy traditional pasta dishes such as Seafood Tagliatelle and Truffle Wild Mushroom Gnocchi or Basil Pesto Farfalle, as well as a selection of burgers, including the Notorious D.O.G., a beef burger with boozy cheese, onion strings, sunny side egg and truffled chicken gravy.

As an homage to the original Blue Dog Café, the restaurant will also serve brunch seven days a week featuring hand-tailored omelets, an array of Benedicts, egg sandwiches, and Chef Specialties, which include a Pumpkin Stuffed French Toast, Fried Chicken and Waffles, Huevos Rancheros and a house-cured Salmon Platter.

Chief Mixologist and General Manager Nesha Korak manages the beverage program at Blue Dog. Innovative libations include Promise of Paradise – vodka shaken with lychee lemongrass cordial, fresh lemon juice, and finished with prosecco; Summer Crush – watermelon infused gin shaken with Lillet Blanc, fresh lemon juice and sparkling wine served over ice with prosecco and watermelon radish. Craft beers and a curated selection of wines will also be on offer.

Blue Dog will seat 220 patrons between its alfresco patio and dining room and bar/lounge. The restaurant aims to craft an elevated comfort mood offering top-tier food and service without a “formal” white tablecloth-style fine dining experience. The Blue Dog Cookhouse & Bar Boca Raton is open seven days a week. Reservations can be made via Open Table or by calling the restaurant at (561) 961-3330.
