Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade Opens Its Sixth Club

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade continued its expansion efforts in South Florida by opening its sixth club at Dr. Frederica S. Wilson Skyway Elementary School at 4555 NW 206th Terr. in Miami Gardens. The new facility will serve approximately 100 children from the local area and is now accepting new youth members. Area youth will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until the program is filled.

“We are thrilled to open our sixth Club at Frederica S. Wilson Skyway Elementary School,” Alex Rodriguez-Roig says, president of Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade. “This would not be possible without the generous support from Dr. Frederica S. Wilson, who is committed to providing great futures for Miami-Dade area youth.”

The Dr. Frederica S. Wilson Skyway Elementary School Club offers a fun and enriching Educational After-School Program for children in kindergarten through 5th grade on weekdays from 2 to 6 p.m. and on Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ teacher planning days. Spring Break and Summer Camp programs will also be available in 2023.

Youth members can participate in various activities, including STEM, arts and crafts, physical fitness, tutoring, homework assistance, mentoring, social-emotional learning and more. There is a $25 registration fee per youth member but no monthly fee.

The Dr. Frederica S. Wilson Skyway Elementary School Club aims to introduce tennis and golf to underserved populations and foster a love for the sport in all demographics. It has begun its second phase of constructing tennis courts and a miniature golf course on campus.
