The chance to be transported to a bygone era where jostling was the ultimate sport and Lords of the Realm ruled the land is nearly here. The 32nd annual Florida Renaissance Festival will return on Feb. 3 and run through March 24 at the serene Quiet Waters Park in Deerfield Beach.
The one-of-a-kind festival showcases eight consecutive themed weekends, providing a captivating inside look into a legendary time when pirates, Vikings, evil villains, and unsung heroes ruled the kingdom. Although costumes are not mandatory for entry, thousands of attendees wear historical clothing to fully immerse themselves in the true spirit of the Renaissance period through artisan markets and food in a world of merriment.
The Florida Renaissance Festival is produced by Bobby Rodriguez Productions, a nationally acclaimed company specializing in creating cultural and entertaining experiences for adults and children.
“For more than 30 years, the Festival has been a most unique event,” Bobby Rodriguez says. “It is one of the most anticipated events in South Florida, and each year, it gets better with new and different activities and entertainment.”
New to the season is the Adrian Empire, a living history encampment featuring live steel fighting twice daily on the tournament field. The Adrian Empire will also host a large gathering of warriors from across the country for a convention and battle, but only for one week. Additionally, the Biergarten will welcome Pirates Creed, a high-energy musical duo of buccaneers, to perform.
Knights, presented by DeBracey Productions, is a popular returning attraction that features a live-action stunt show. The show involves trick riding, vaulting, chariot racing, and death-defying stunts as the warrior princess embarks on her quest to find her knight in shining armor. The masses determine the fate of the princess in this winner-take-all scenario.
At the Biergarten, the Jackdaws Trio is set to deliver a mix of contemporary and traditional Irish rock music with its driving melodies and aggressive lyrics. The Washing Well Wenches will be performing over at the Washing Well Stage. This is a pit where women hold the power and men can’t help but be mesmerized by their stunning good looks.
The festival offers tickets at varying prices for different age groups. Adults can purchase tickets for $32, while children aged 6 to 11 years can buy them for $14. Children under the age of five can enter for free. The festival also provides special seasonal passes at $160 for adults and $70 for children. Group ticket rates are also available for interested parties. However, all visitors must pay a compulsory entrance fee of $1.50 at the Broward Parks entrance before obtaining an admission receipt for the front gate entrance.
