4th Annual Dan Marino Foundation WalkAbout Autism & Expo

THE EVENT  The Fourth Annual Dan Marino Foundation WalkAbout Autism & Expo, brought to you by Walgreens. This exciting and unique event will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Sun Life Stadium, home of the Miami Dolphins.

Motivated by individuals with autism, their families and friends, this historic fundraising effort generates awareness and crucial funds for autism services.  All proceeds raised through this event stay in our local community and benefit The Dan Marino Foundation.  Anyone can participate, so register your team today! Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach County Schools, and non-profit autism service providers who participate with WalkAbout Teams will receive 25 percent of the money raised by their team to support special needs programming.

THE CAUSE  The Dan Marino Foundation, a 501(c) 3 organization was established in 1992 by Dan and Claire Marino, motivated by their experiences in raising their son, Michael, who was diagnosed with autism.  The foundation’s mission is “empowering individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities through therapies, research, education, and employment in pursuit of a greater quality of life.”

For over 21 years, the foundation has served individuals with disabilities in South Florida and raised more than $45 million to create unique and impactful initiatives in the community.  Among these “first-of-their-kind” initiatives were the Miami Children’s Hospital Dan Marino Center, Childnett.tv, the Marino Autism Research Institute, Marino Adapted Aquatics, Summer STEPS Employment Programs, and now, opening in 2014, Marino Campus.  For more information, please visit www.danmarinofoundation.org.
