Let’s Spring Into Action for JAFCO: 6th Annual Spring Luncheon

THE EVENT  This year’s 6th annual spring luncheon is hosted by the Plantation, Davie, Cooper City Chapter of JAFCO and features guest speaker Cindy Goodman, a columnist for the Miami Herald who writes about workplace issues. Cindy will talk about balancing work and family and will give her tips about how to manage both.

At the luncheon, honoree Julie Talenfeld, president and founder of Boardroom Communications will be presented with an award for her longtime support of JAFCO.

Event chairs Sharon Wender and Gayle Pifer invite women from all over Broward County to shop, eat, and win raffle prizes all while supporting the children of JAFCO.

THE CAUSE  Events like the spring luncheon help JAFCO serve its mission to provide safety, love and security to abused children in Broward, Palm Beach and Miami-Dade Counties.

Located in Sunrise, The JAFCO Children’s Village is a beautiful 5.6-acre residential facility including a 24-hour emergency children’s shelter and six group homes that provide a safe and loving home for dozens of children from newborns up to 21 years of age.

Later this year, the organization will open its Respite and Family Resource Center for Children with Developmental Disabilities. Once open, the center will offer an inclusive atmosphere for the entire family including family support, child enrichment activities and high-quality therapies. The center will be the first of its kind in the country to provide training, therapy, socialization, recreation and extended respite care – filling a vital unmet need in our community.
