Love Life Cafe Hosts Conscious Bite Out Dinner

The plant-based restaurant will offer a four-course menu centered around a loose interpretation of Mexican cuisine.

To celebrate World Vegan Month, Love Life Cafe, a well-known plant-based restaurant in Wynwood, is reviving Conscious Bite Out, a plant-based dinner series founded by co-owner Veronica Menin. The series will commence with a special evening of conscious dining featuring Matthew Sherman as a guest at 7 p.m. on Nov. 9. The event aims to promote community, friendship and sustainable living.

Over a decade ago, Matthew Sherman began his journey with Conscious Bite Out dinners as a volunteer busboy, working alongside Menin. He quickly became passionate about the program’s energetic field of care and awareness around food choices, food systems and local chefs. Being the founder of Jugofresh and a key figure in Miami’s plant-based food movement, he grew with the program and is now returning to Miami, his culinary and spiritual home, after exploring the culinary landscapes of London, Mexico, and various parts of the U.S. following Jugofresh’s closure in 2018.

“Gathering around a table with intention and with your community is powerful,” Sherman says. “Conscious Bite Out is special to me, having met my first clients, friends and future work relationships at these events. I am excited to cook this dinner and to continue to be a part of creating an evolutionary field around food with the Conscious Bite Out team and Love Life Cafe so that we can all be a part of creating a future of food that people and the planet thrive in.”

The menu for the event will consist of four courses and is priced at $125 per person, which includes tax. Drawing inspiration from Mexican cuisine and Sherman’s recent culinary experiences in Mexico, the dishes will be a creative and loose interpretation of the cuisine, with a “no rules” approach that will showcase Sherman’s favorite flavor profiles. The dishes will be thoughtfully and sustainably crafted, and guests can expect elevated twists on Jugofresh classics that will add a touch of nostalgia to the innovative culinary experience. The dinner will be perfectly complemented by natural wines from Love Life Cafe’s bar program that will enhance the flavors of the evening.

“I am beyond honored to be the channel bringing our Matthew Sherman to cook for the Miami community,” Menin says. “He and his energy are extremely missed. I have had the pleasure of not only being his friend but also of hosting four CBO dinners with him and they were always absolutely amazing. All I can say is that this Conscious Bite Out will be extremely special for us. We will be making magic happen!”
