Top Takeout Picks: Death or Glory and LoKal

PALM BEACH COUNTY

The restaurant: Death or Glory (pictured above)

Where: 116 NE Sixth Ave., Delray Beach

Takeout treats: This deliciously innovative concept in the old Falcon House space is serving up an array of takeout or delivery dishes off the lunch menu (noon to 8 p.m.)—crispy chickpeas ($6), grain bowls ($10), black bean burger ($10), falafel sandwich ($10) and more—as well as dinner options from 5 to 8 p.m. for two ($18) or four ($28). Those options include tacos, crispy chicken, baked ziti or a gyro platter.

Don’t miss: No Kiss List ($36). With all due respect to the foodie menu, it’s time to kick off the weekend—and Death or Glory has just the pre-packaged way to celebrate. Its ready-to-serve cocktails hit all the right notes—an old fashioned (five servings worth; $40) for bourbon lovers; Tommy’s margarita (3.5 servings for $40) for tequila fans; and even the classic martini (3.5 servings; $38). For those looking for something in the fruit-forward category, try the No Kiss List (3.5 servings). The batched mix includes vodka, lime juice, Benedictine, hibiscus syrup and crème de mure; pour that over ice and top with Fever Tree soda. Cheers!

MIAMI-DADE

The restaurant: LoKal

Where: 3190 Commodore Plaza, Coconut Grove

Takeout treats: Burgers rule here, with more than 10 types offered, but salads with homemade dressings (try the blue cheese) and the “veggie corner” of the menu shouldn’t be missed. The cauliflower wedge sandwich ($14) features a grilled Cajun cauliflower wedge with melted Jack cheese, arugula, fried onions, tomato, creamy garlic and Sriracha. They even have a “doggy menu” if Fido is giving his kibbles a tired look.

Don’t miss: Mama Bear’s chicken and waffles ($16). While this dish has found its way onto plenty of menus, you’ll soon learn why LoKal’s keeps winning praise as the best in town. The balance of crispy chicken and fluffy waffles is elevated with chopped bacon and powdered sugar.
