Five ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day South Florida style

Even during a time when the world is still reeling, it pays to take the time to celebrate love. Try these South Florida hot spots to show your loved one what they mean to you.

Go classic with chocolate
Hoffman’s Chocolates says it will use more than 2,000 pounds of strawberry to create their chocolate-covered strawberries (pictured above). Grab one of those pounds to share with your sweetheart for pick up at one of Hoffman’s seven locations.

Hoffman’s also offers other Valentine’s items such as the Valentine’s Day Truffle Assortment, Valentine’s Day Heart Box. Two new offerings include Valentine’s Day Butter Crunch Box (Butter toffee lightly coated in milk chocolate and coated in almond pieces) and Foiled Valentine’s Day Oreos (Hoffman’s Chocolates classic hand-dipped Oreo Cookies that are beautifully dipped and individually wrapped in foil).

Head to the Yard
The Doral Yard
has a full day planned for couples. From 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Alorè hosts Succulents and Bubbles where you can create a terrarium while enjoying Champagne. Then from 5-7:15 p.m., The Javier Garcia Trio at The Yard performs Latin funk music. In between, enjoy $10 Raspberry-Rosewater Gin Rickey cocktails at The Bar at The Yard. Several Yard vendors feature Valentine’s specials as well such as heart-shaped churros and desserts at Santo Dulce, Mix & Match Valentine’s Dinner for 2 at della bowl and the Dim Sum Lovers sampler from YIP.

Brunch by the beach
Fort Lauderdale culinary queen Chef Lenore Ryan serves a brunch to remember at her Grapes Wine Cafe and Market on Galt Ocean Mile. Her a la carte Bubbles and Brunch Valentine’s Day menu includes Eggs Benedict, (ciabatta toast, artisan ham and lemony Hollandaise sauce, served with fresh fruit); Smoked Salmon Everything Toast, tomatoes, capers, red onions, and heirloom greens vinaigrette); Goat Cheese & Thyme Tart, (with heirloom greens, tomatoes, berries, and arugula vinaigrette); Torta Milanese, (layers of ham, cheese, spinach, and roasted peppers encased in puff pastry, served with heirloom greens vinaigrette) and more. Plus, Chef Lenore adds complimentary Cream Biscuits and her Nutella Raspberry Butter. Diners will also enjoy jazz guitarist Michael V. from noon to 3 p.m.

Enjoy a beachside dinner
Don’t sweat the details at Beach House Pompano. Their Valentine’s Day package ($150) features a bottle of Champagne, a bouquet of flowers and a special four-course meal.

Feast on a spread at home
A date night at home doesn’t have to be dull. Wild Fork delivers—in more ways than one—with a menu of Filet Mignon with red peppercorns; Atlantic Lobster Tails with Chardonnay and garlic sauce; Cream Cheese Potato Gratin and Hot Chocolate Souffle. Plus, you can customize the package with a la cart items.
