Wellness Through Art

ArtServe makes a connection between creative expressions and emotional health.

An ongoing exhibition at ArtServe in Fort Lauderdale (1350 E. Sunrise Blvd.) is exploring how artists convey self-love, well-being and healing through different mediums and genres. “Fostering Mental and Emotional Health—An Artist’s Journey Through Healing,” which runs through June 16, incorporates submissions from local artists, including students from eighth grade through college.

“It’s long been known in medical circles that art is a highly effective form of therapy that encourages non-verbal communication and healing when people are often unable to speak for whatever the reason,” says ArtServe executive director Jason Hughes. “Exploring self-expression through the outlet of various art forms can create a safe space that helps many embrace and sort through their own personal difficulties.”
