Lifestyle’s Guide to Summer Fun, Part 10

Stir Your Senses: Innovative, experiential art has a champion in Miami thanks to Superblue. The recently opened venture gives cutting-edge artists an opportunity—and the space—to push the boundaries through large-scale presentations, iconic installations, and other thought-provoking expressions. The inaugural program, titled “Every Wall is a Door,” includes the debut of an immersive, mirrored environment by Es Devlin; a digital experience by teamLab; and a light-based perceptual deprivation work by James Turrell.

Step Into History: The home that the founding father of Fort Lauderdale built in 1901 (and all the stories connected to it) continues to enchant visitors more than a century later. In addition to guided museum tours every day at 1, 2 and 3 p.m., the famed Stranahan House along the New River also hosts History Happy Hours (typically, the third Wednesday of the month).

Snorkel over a Shipwreck: The natural habitat at Biscayne National Park is filled with underwater sights to behold. Thankfully, there are a variety of ways to experience the marine scene that’s lurking below the turquoise waters. The park offers full-day sail, paddle and snorkel trips; snorkel explorations of the Maritime Heritage Trail and its shipwrecks; and scuba and snorkel eco-adventures. Expect to see rays, turtles, tropical fish, colorful corals, and other sea life surprises.

Board a Pirate Ship: There’s buried treasure in our South Florida waters, and only the swashbucklers aboard the Bluefoot know where it is. Join Captain Black Sparrow, Cannonball Kiki and the rest of the crew for Bluefoot Pirate Adventures’ one-hour tour along the Intracoastal in Fort Lauderdale. While the traditional pirate ship trips are family-friendly, adults can book a BYOB private two-hour Booze Cruise.
