Stranahan House Helps Raise Funds to Support Educational Programs

The Historic Stranahan House Museum generated more than $11,000 for education programming and to help preserve the historic home during its first “Home for the Holidays” celebratory party.

“This is such a festive time of year, and Stranahan House is so beautifully decorated inside and outside,” LaurieAnne Minoff says, a Stranahan House board member who chaired the event. “It’s the perfect time and place to enjoy the holiday spirit in Fort Lauderdale.”

During the event, guests enjoyed food, specialty holiday cocktails, a visit from Saint Nick, guided tours by docents in Victorian-era attire and a silent auction and raffle featuring holiday gifts, gift cards, excursions and gift baskets. The house was decorated with twinkling lights and Victorian-era holiday displays. The museum’s gift shop also remained open, featuring unique, locally created and commemorative items.

The event was sponsored by Tripp Scott, Wells Fargo Private Bank, Fertig & Gramling, SouthState Bank, Pat and Norm Kublin, MSL CPAs and Advisors, Kate and Doug Smith, Lori and Gene Harvey, Buckley Mediation, the Minoff Family, The Dutton Group, Matthew McAloon, Lori and Mitch Cohen, Sidecar Kitchen, Pierson Grant and Clay Wieland Photography.

“We are incredibly thankful to all of our wonderful sponsors, volunteers and supporters, whose contributions have set the standard for more “Home for the Holiday” parties for years to come,” April Kirk says, Executive Director for the Historic Stranahan House Museum. “The impact of this event goes far beyond just benefitting the House. Local businesses, artists and entrepreneurs had the opportunity to market their goods and services by participating in the silent auction and young professionals made valuable connections. It was a spectacular night.”

Located in the heart of downtown Fort Lauderdale at 335 SE 6th Avenue, The Stranahan House Museum is open for daily guided tours. It offers virtual experiences and in-person events throughout the year. Memberships are available or join the 1901 Circle as a lifetime member.
