Three rescues, countless chewed shoes, and a whole lot of unconditional love.

Tell us about your dogs.

Our 3 dogs are Cavalier King Charles Spaniels – Frasier (11), Augie (8) and Poppy (6).  All 3 are rescues. Frasier and Augie are owner surrenders and Poppy was from a puppy mill breeder.  They are special to us for many reasons.  Despite their trauma, they are the sweetest and most loving creatures on the planet.  They only want to give love and be loved. We watch them blossom into trusting and loving dogs who are happy hanging out with us as we are with them. It’s hard to put into words how special it is to open your home to a dog who needs one.  Each one comes with challenges as most rescues haven’t received the attention they need, but if you can put aside the struggles and open your heart and home to one, there is true joy and a feeling of immense gratitude.

What is your dog’s quirkiest habit or personality trait?

Frasier likes to chew very expensive shoes, and he can sniff out a Choo or a Louboutin from a mile away.  Augie likes to walk back and forth under the clothes hanging in the closet to scratch his back and Poppy is happiest sleeping on a pillow behind my head.

Favorite pet charity or rescue:

Cavalier Rescue of Florida.  We have never seen a more dedicated and committed group of volunteers led by Tracy Baker.   Each dog surrendered is medically evaluated, each condition addressed. Then they go about the task of finding the right forever home for each dog based on best match.  The dog’s needs come first, and careful screening is done including personal and vet references and home visits.  Two of our Cavaliers are CRF rescues, and they were worth every minute of the vetting.
