There’s about to be another reason to linger along Fort Lauderdale’s New River.
Sweetwaters is slated to open this fall inside the newly reimagined Huizenga Park, bringing waterfront dining, cocktails and plenty of outdoor space to downtown Fort Lauderdale.
The restaurant comes from the family-owned hospitality group behind Miami’s longtime waterfront favorite, Rusty Pelican. Expect a chef-driven menu inspired by South Florida’s coastal flavors, along with cocktails made for sipping while watching the boats go by.
Sweetwaters will make the most of its location with riverfront terraces, open-air patios and downtown skyline views. The restaurant is also an easy stroll from Riverwalk and the Brightline station, making it a convenient stop whether you’re heading downtown for dinner, happy hour or just a waterside cocktail.
Sweetwaters. 58 E. Las Olas Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale; sweetwatersrestaurant.com. Opening fall 2026.
