Arts Community Receives Assistance

Organizations throughout the South Florida arts community received some much-needed good news with this week’s announcement by Funding Arts Broward (FAB!). The nonprofit organization, committed to preserving the arts in Broward County and beyond, awarded 2021 grant funding totaling $300,000. Thirty-seven different cultural entities received funding.

“We are fortunate to foster a dedicated membership base whose mission is to ensure that the arts continue to thrive in Broward County,” said Carolyn Lee, president of FAB!. “Not only did we exceed expectations by more than 24% [despite the unexpected challenges of COVID-19], FAB! was able to be more generous with its disbursement to the number of grantees—10 additional organizations over last year.”

Organizations that received 2021 grants include: All Florida Youth Orchestra ($13,000); ArtServe ($7,000); Broward Performing Arts Foundation ($10,000); Florida Grand Opera ($10,000); Fort Lauderdale Children’s Theatre ($9,000); Hollywood Art and Culture Center ($11,500); Miami City Ballet ($10,000); Slow Burn Theatre Company ($14,500); Gold Coast Jazz Society ($8,000); South Florida Symphony Orchestra ($11,500); and Young at Art Museum ($11,000). All told, FAB! has distributed more than $3.6 million to local arts organizations.

Grant allocations were awarded for specific upcoming programming, including Fort Lauderdale Children’s Ballet Theatre’s performance of Coppélia. Visit fundingartsbroward.org for more about FAB! and its ongoing mission.
