New Culinary and Cocktail Haven, Casa Ya’ax, Debuts in Wynwood

Chef/restaurateur Omar Montero expertly crafts sophisticated regional Mexican cuisine.

The newest sensation from Chef Omar Montero has been unveiled with the opening of Casa Ya’ax, an indoor/outdoor culinary and cocktail venue in the heart of Wynwood. Positioned to capitalize on Wynwood’s well-earned reputation as one of the hottest neighborhoods in the world, Casa Ya’ax is a sublime and sophisticated new restaurant. It aims to deliver a transportive experience that evokes the traditions, flavors, hospitality, and spirit of Montero’s native Mexico. Casa Ya’ax offers an inspired menu founded on simplicity but elevated by technique, an inventive drinks program, a lush tropical design aesthetic, and live entertainment, bringing Mexico, by way of Montero, to locals and visitors alike.

“The idea for this restaurant has been with me for years,” says Montero, who credits his rich Mexican heritage as his creative North Star. “If La Santa is my tribute to street food, then this will be a place where we can celebrate the rich, authentic flavors and dishes from across Mexico, highlighting our gorgeous coastal cuisine.”

The restaurant’s menu will offer a wide variety of dishes, including beef short ribs with demi-glace and three chilies, white corn and red quinoa with pork belly and rock shrimp, tiger shrimp with garlic, and Aguachile Arrachera in black sauce. In addition, the restaurant will also serve an array of raw bar and grill items, such as Takamori A5 wagyu, OMI wagyu, and USDA prime cuts, all of which will be available a la carte. The restaurant will also offer a range of delectable side dishes.

Sure to be among the must-try drinks are Sel Va Tik with gin, Bergamotto, Acqua Di Cedro, cucumber bitters and tonic, the Espresso Oaxaca, which is Casa Ya’ax’s version of the espresso martini made with Bacanora Aguamiel, Giocondo Cabaret Cafe, licor 43, coffee, and Oaxacan chocolate shavings, and the Mexican Manhattan with El Tequileño Tequila, sweet vermouth and bitters are some of the must-try drinks at the restaurant. Additionally, the restaurant will have a well-appointed bottle menu that includes an array of Mexican wines and agave-based spirits not typically found elsewhere in Miami. Later in the evening, the restaurant’s patio will transform into a lounge with a live DJ, cool lighting, and a misting system.

Casa Ya’ax is located in Wynwood at 51 NE 24 Street, Suite 101. Reservations can be made via RESY.
