Relay For Life of Weston

THE EVENT  Relay For Life is a celebration of life in honor of those touched by cancer.  Relay For Life also raises funds for the American Cancer Society’s programs of research, education, advocacy and service – programs that can reduce cancer deaths and cancer incidence, and improve the quality of life for those touched by cancer.  Relay For Life of Weston is a true community event where people of all ages and from all walks of life come together for a common cause.  Food, fun and camaraderie are part of the Relay experience.  There is the opening ceremony and first lap called our ‘victory lap’.  We cheer on our local cancer survivors and their caregivers. There is also a more solemn aspect of the event during the Luminaria ceremony. This is an emotional candle-lighting ceremony to honor those who have survived cancer and to remember those who have not.

THE CAUSE  Relay For Life of Weston is about our community taking up the fight against cancer. We are so PROUD to have been the #1 Relay in Broward County for the fourth year in a row raising over $225,000!  We came in the top 1% in the State of Florida at number 6 out of 365 Relays! From 2003 to 2013 the Relay For Life of Weston has raised over $1.8M and recruited over 300 teams! Our goal for 2014 is to raise $235,000, have 75 teams participate and have as many Survivors walking that first lap! We are also focused on making our Relay #1 in Broward for the 5th year in a row and also stay in that 1% in the State of Florida.  Weston is a wonderful and generous community and without them we would not be able to raise these critical funds which essentially go back into our own community for cancer support programs.

TICKETS  Relay For Life of Weston is a FREE family event and we invite everyone to share in this special event. This year our theme is “Tropical Paradise” so come and share with us for this common cause!
