The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Journey of Hope Grand Finale

THE EVENT  Community leaders are raising money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) in the hopes of making a difference in the lives of others. One man and one woman only, based on their fundraising efforts, will be announced as the Man and Woman of the Year. Starting with a kickoff celebration in March, these local leaders were off to a great start. Their efforts will be recognized at the Journey of Hope Grand Finale, including a cocktail reception, dinner, dance and auction taking place on Saturday, May 10 at the Harbor Beach Marriott.

The committed individuals are: Laurina Anderson, The Energy Shifter; Mike Ando, Bank of America;  Michelle Fee, Cruise Planners/American Express; Erik Gudbranson, Florida Panthers Hockey Club; Jon Hines, CBI;  Stephen Jackson, The Ritz-Carlton, Fort Lauderdale; Tom Mounce, Blue Ocean Press; Peter Obre; Jeff Partin, Camper & Nicholsons USA Inc.; Paula Sanchez, Seminole Tribe of Florida; Tony Sanchez, Seminole Tribe of Florida; Vania Vazquez, Broward Health Medical Center; Vanessa Walker, National Beverage Corp.; Zachariah “Reggie” Zachariah, Greenberg Traurig.

THE CAUSE  The mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma society (LLS) is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and myeloma and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Each year in communities across the country, dynamic, passionate community leaders engage in a spirited competition to earn The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Man & Woman of the Year titles by raising funds for blood cancer research. All of the funds raised by these community leaders will honor two very special people, the 2014 Girl and Boy of the Year. Eleven-year-old Alexandra and ten-year-old Josh are lymphoma and leukemia survivors. Funds raised will be used for lifesaving blood cancer research, financial assistance, transportation, medication and testing as well as free educational materials, program and events for patients and their families.
