Kids, Vids, and The Environment

Pinecrest Gardens is proud to present “Pollution Solutions,” a video contest to promote environmental education that is open to students in Miami-Dade County schools from grades 4-12.

Contestants will make a short video, 1-3 minutes in length, which identify one of the seven types of environmental pollution. Each video must also demonstrate a proposed solution for the pollution issue that is identified in the video. Students may demonstrate more than one solution and are encouraged to be creative.

The submission period is from February 2 to April 2. A panel of judges will determine the top three videos in each category as follows: Grades 4-6, Grades 7-9 and Grades 10-12.  Judges include Joseph Spector the VP of Operations for Ygrene Energy Fund Florida, Susannah Troner the Sustainability Initiatives Coordinator for Miami-Dade County and Lisa N. Toy, the Educational Program Coordinator for Pinecrest Gardens.

Winners will be announced at the Earth Day Festival on April 19 where they will present their videos. There will be three winners and each winner will receive $300 for themselves, plus $1,000 for their school to implement an environmental project.

To submit an entry form, please visit the Pollution Solutions Page on the Pinecrest Gardens website: www.pinecrestgardens.org.

Please read the contest rules and regulations before submitting an entry form. For more info, contact Lisa N. Toy, Educational Program Coordinator, at 305.669.6990 or [email protected].
